Four Premier League players suspended

Four Premier League players are ruled out of the next programme of the BOV Premier League which will be played in the first weekend of the New Year after being handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner.

Floriana’s Christian Caruana and Pablo Doffo, Nikola Bogdanovic of Mosta and Marlon Briffa of Mqabba were all suspended for one game after collecting a fourth yellow card.

Caruana and Doffo are ruled out of the match against Hamrun Spartans, Bogdanovic of that against Tarxien and Briffa of the game against Balzan.

Pietà Hotspurs were hit worse in the First Division as Quelin Refalo and Larson Mallia were both banned for four matches, Matthew Schembri for three while team manager Damien Saliba was suspended for four matches. Rabat Ajax’s Joseph Caruana, Valdo Alhinho (St. Andrews) and Simon Zerafa (St. Patrick) were banned for one match. Vittoriosa Stars coach Joe Brincat was handed a two-match ban.

In Division 2, Beppe Antignolo (Gharghur) and Michael Ciappara (Senglea) were suspended for two matches while Darren Galea (Attard), Josef Tonna (Gudja) and Tiago Loquete (Mellieha) were banned for one game. Gzira kit-manager John Muscat was also suspended for one game.

Marvic Grech and Mark Vassallo (Ghaxaq), Mark Deguara (Mgarr) and Marlon Farrugia (Santa Lucia) were suspended for one match in Division 3.

In the Youth League, Fabian Caruana (Kirkop), Justin Tonna (Lija), Luke Sammut (Melita), Dylan Attard (Msida), Wayne Borg and Neil Farrugia (Rabat), Andrew Caligari and Gary Tanti (Sliema), Jonathan Galea (Santa Lucia) were all banned for one match. Charlot Cesare (St. George’s) and Hamrun Spartans coach Marco Grech were banned for two matches.
