St. Andrews joined Zejtun Corinthians in fourth place in the BOV First Division as they defeated bottom-placed St. Patrick 2-1 in one of the two matches in programme at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
Brian Said and a penalty by Nicky Vella Petroni gave Luxol the three points. Bertrand Engoudou scored the only goal for the Zabbar side.
In another match, a goal by Leontiev Konda gave Dingli Swallows a narrow win over Vittoriosa Stars. The Stars, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, have now gone eight games without a win.
Pietà Hotspurs lead the way with 22 points, followed by Rabat on 21, Melita 19, Zejtun and St. Andrews 16, Birzebbuga 12, Dingli 11, Naxxar 10, Vittoriosa and Lija 9, St. George’s 8 and St. Patrick 5.
On Sunday, Melita take on Naxxar Lions while Rabat Ajax face Birzebbuga St. Peter’s.
