Pietà Hotspurs regained sole leadership in the BOV First Division after defeating Lija Athletic 2-0 in one of the two matches in programme at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. The Hotspurs therefore move three points clear of Rabat Ajax and five ahead of Melita.

Vinicius Pereira dos Santos scored the two goals for Edmond Lufi’s side.

In another match, Zejtun Corinthians came from behind to beat St. George’s 4-1.

Zejtun are now fourth on 19 points, followed by St. Andrews on 16, Birzebbuga 13, Dingli and Naxxar 11, Vittoriosa and Lija 9, St. George’s 8 and St. Patrick 5.

On Sunday, Rabat Ajax take on Melita while Birzebbuga St. Peter’s face Dingli Swallows.
