Schembri delighted after scoring fifth goal

Andre Schembri was on target once again for Panionios as they defeated Kerkyra 2-0 on Saturday. The Malta international striker scored the second goal three minutes from time after Njazi Kuqi put them ahead on the 70th.

Kerkyra are coached by Javi Garcia – the coach that signed Schembri with Olympiakos Volos in summer but the two went separate ways following the club’s demotion. Also on the books of Kerkyra is Malta goalkeeper Justin Haber who however is yet to make his debut for the club, being included on the bench only once.

Interviewed by the Greek media, with a smile on his face, Schembri stated that sometimes life is unfair. He was referring to the goal he scored against the team now coached by the person who believed in him when he first moved to Greece. Schembri also said that this win will give Panionios more confidence and will boost their morale ahead of the games against AEK, Olympiakos and Panathinaikos.

When asked about giving a prediction on how many goals he will score till the end of season, Schembri replied that goals were important but the most important thing was that Panionios retained their Super League status.
