Valletta unveil two new signings

Valletta FC confirmed the signing of Italian defender Filippo Andrea Scozzese and Latvian striker Aleksandrs ?ekulajevs. The two players signed a one-year deal with the Citizens.

Scozzese is the second player to join Valletta from Italian side A.S.D. Citta Di Marino following Argentine midfielder Nahuel Pulitano Jimenez. The president of Citta Di Marino is Valletta director general Antonio Esposito.

The 23-year old defender played for US Vibonese, Vico Equense and Acireale befor moving to Citta di Marino this summer.

Aleksandrs ?ekulajevs has an impressive goal-scoring record scoring 46 goals in 35 matches for FC Narva Trans in Estonia last year. In 2007, he scored 51 goals in 30 matches for FK Auda Riga in Latvia.

The 26-year old striker started his career with FK Riga before moving to FK Auda. He then played for FK-Nachod Destne in the Czech Republic, FK Jurmala in Latvia and FC Víkingur Ólafsvík in Iceland.

The signing of these two players brings the total of foreign players on the books of Valletta to ten, the others being English goalkeeper Matthew Towns, Saidou Mady Panandetiguiri and Ousseni Zongo from Burkina Faso, Brazilians Denni Rocha dos Santos, William Barbosa da Silva, Nigerian striker Alfred Effiong, Argentine midfielder Nahuel Pulitano Jimenez and Slovenian striker Miha Robic. Brazilian defender Ramon dos Santos is expected to return with the club this summer after joining Vittoriosa on loan last month.
