Seven Premier League players suspended

  • Three Premier League players were suspended for two matches and another four were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner after last weekend’s matches from the BOV Premier League.

    Manuel Bartolo (Floriana), Mark Anthony Psaila (Mqabba) and Justin Grioli (Tarxien) were banned for two matches while Balzan Youths duo Clifton Ciantar and Nikola Tasic, Hamrun’s Anderson Mendes Ribeiro and Bjorn Kristensen of Hibernians were suspended for one game.

    Manuel Bartolo will miss the games against Hibernians and Valletta, Mark Anthony Psaila those against Mosta and Hibs and Grioli the games against Birkirkara and Balzan.

    Ciantar and Tasic are ruled out of Balzan vs Valletta, Ribeiro will miss the game against Marsaxlokk and Kristensen will be unavailable for the game against Floriana.

    In Division 1, Terence Agius (Pietà) and Malcolm Buttigieg (Vittoriosa) were suspended for one match.

    Jovin Abela (Senglea) was suspended for two matches in Division 2 while Luis da Silva and Matthew Cocks (Gzira), Christopher Farrugia (Kirkop), Simon Gauci (Mellieha) and Joseph Mercieca (Zebbug) were banned for one match.

    In Division 3, Marvic Grech (Ghaxaq) and Chris Camilleri (Sta. Lucia) were handed a two-match ban while Simon Aquilina (Fgura), Paul Bugeja (Ghaxaq), Abduljawed Musha (Kalkara), Stefan Saliba (Marsaskala), Matthew Francalanza and Gilbert Camilleri (Mdina) (Mdina), Johan Said (Mgarr), Julian Fenech and Ryan Zammit (Mtarfa), George Azzopardi (Qrendi), Joseph Cutajar (Sta. Lucia), Mauro Leonardi and Sinclair Camilleri (Xghajra) were banned for one match.

    In the Youth League, Darryl Martinelli and Michael Borg (Balzan), Justin Tonna (Lija), Dylan Briffa (Mqabba), Hubert Vella (Pietà), Gabriel Farrugia (Sirens), Carl Mifsud Bonnici and Luke Cesareo (St. Andrews), Giuseppe Barone (Tarxien) and Samir Arab (Valletta) were suspended for one match while coaches Fehmi Rama (Sirens) and Maurice Pace (St. Andrews) were banned for two matches.
