After securing promotion to Division 1, Mgarr United were declared champions of the BOV Women’s Second Division League after defeating St. Venera Yellow Blues 5-0 on Friday.

For the team led by former Malta international midfielder Raymond Vella, this was the eighteenth win in eighteen matches. They scored 99 goals and suffered just three.

In other matches this week, Hamrun Spartans defeated Melita 3-1, Zurrieq beat Zejtun Corinthians 8-0 while Tarxien Rainbows and Kirkop United shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

Mgarr lead the way with 54 points, followed by Hamrun on 46, Zurrieq 43, Tarxien 35, St. Venera and Kirkop 30, Melita 25, Lija / Iklin 18, Naxxar 8, Zejtun and Santa Lucia 4.
