Gzira United secured promotion to Division 1 after defeating Gharghur 2-0 in a match from the BOV Second Division on Friday.

For Gharghur, this was a set-back in the race for promotion as they stay in fourth place – three points behind Gudja, one behind Mellieha and one ahead of Zebbug. The latter three have a game in hand.

The Maroons lead the way with 55 points, followed by Gudja on 44, Mellieha 42, Gharghur 41, Zebbug 40, San Gwann 35, Kirkop 29, St. Venera 28, Msida 26, Zurrieq 24, Siggiewi 23, Attard 19, Luqa 15 and Senglea 12.
