Xewkija Tigers champions for the fifth time

Xewkija Tigers secured the fifth Gozitan First Division championship in the history of the club following a 3-3 draw with Nadur Youngsters.

Needing just a point from the game, Xewkija managed to build a comfortable three-goal lead by the end of the first half. Nadur hit back, scoring three after the break. However this comeback was not enough as they failed to score the fourth goal which would have handed them the title.

At the final whistle of the referee Xewkija’s players, staff and their numerous supporters released all their tension and started great celebrations for the honour won. The president of the GFA Mr Alvin Grech and the GFA General secretary Mr Joe Bajada, in the presence of other GFA officials, presented the medals and trophies to Xewkija’s captain Joseph Cefai and vice-captain Joseph Azzopardi.
