Zejtun Corinthians present new signings

First Division football club Zejtun Corinthians presented the team for season 2012/13 and the new change colour kit during a presentation night at the Nordic Bar in Paceville. Present for this event apart from the players, coach and committee members, a number of supporters were also present guided by the hard working Supporters Club Committee led by Mr Consiglio Galea.

For this season the Corinthians are training hard under coach Mr Joey Falzon who was confirmed coach for this season after that last season with the Zejtun football club finished fourth in the league table. Most of last season squad was confirmed however the Club invested in new players too mainly the return after a spell in the Premier League of the Zejtun born player Adrian Carabott. Joining the team for the first time are Serbian player Zvezdan Vukovic, Kurt Zahra, Diego Cucciardi, Dylan Zarb and Reuben De Gabriele. Another return was that of Albanian Oldi Majtara after that last season he played in his native country. He is now joined also by Blendi Gockaj another Albanian and the confirmation of Libyan Wisam Elzaredi.

The Club President Sean Abela and Club Secretary Carmelo Abela spoke about the intentions of the Club which basically are not different from the last season. The first priority is to maintain the team in the First Division and possibly challenge for the premiership, which would be a first for the Corinthians. However, while doing this one has to keep in mind the very limited resources that the Club has. Notwithstanding this the hard working committee members, especially the Team Manager Albert Cumbo, managed to build a competitive team in collaboration with Coach Joey Falzon and Richard Curmi his assistant.

While doing this the committee is observing the Financial Fair Play rules which are being dictated by UEFA and the Malta Football Association. This year another achievement for the Club and the Nursery was that finally a Head Coach was found. The hard working Anthony Rocco is the person who was entrusted to lead and guide the Nursery as well as to coach the Minors and closely work with First Team Coach re the development of our youngsters. Hopefully by his work and that of all the other coaches and Nursery Committee Members under the leadership of Mrs Stephanie Fenech together with the achievements of the first team our Nursery will continue to grow for the benefit of all.

Finally the Club thanked all the sponsors especially Supreme Travel, Peugeot, Cassar Service Station, Roger Bakery, Tyson Butcher and The General Soft Drinks for their help. A special mention was also given to the Nordic Bar with whom the Committee would like to start working closely.

In the end the Committee thanked the players, coach and their relatives for their support and understanding and most of all thanked the Zejtun supporters and other clubs and committees in the locality for their precious support.
