Sliema Wanderers bounced back in style from the defeat to Qormi as they scored three in the first half to beat Birkirkara 3-1.
For the Stripes, this was the first defeat after winning the first four matches. They were simply unable to react after suffering two early goals which put them two goals down after just thirteen minutes.

Birkirkara lacked Ryan Scicluna, Joselito dos Reis and Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza. Mark Scerri, on the other hand, was missing for Sliema but they had Argentine attacking midfielder Ariel Laudisi making his debut.
The Wanderers managed to take the lead on the 7th minute thanks to a fine rising shot by Ivan Woods, off a cross from the right by Luca Martinelli, which beat goalkeeper Reuben Gauci.
Matias Muchardi doubled the score on the 13th minute when he received a perfect pass by Ariel Laudisi from the right and hit low past the Birkirkara custodian.
Three minutes in the second half, Sliema scored the third goal when a Paltemio Barbetti corner from the left created havoc inside the penalty area and Alex Muscat placed the ball at the back of the net from close-range.
Birkirkara pulled one back on 55 minutes thanks to Rowen Muscat who received an assist by Shola Shodiya from the right and found no difficulty in hitting home from close.
Edward Herrera tried his luck with a powerful drive on 78 minutes but Bonello turned the ball into a corner. From the resulting corner from the right, Nikola Vukanac’s close-range header was saved by the Sliema goalkeeper aided by the upright.

Floriana returned to winning ways as they scored three in the second half to beat Rabat Ajax 3-0.
The Greens move fourth on eight points from five matches while Rabat remain anchored at the bottom of the table together with Melita and Balzan.
The Magpies once again lacked strikers Nerijus Astrauskas and Ryan Micallef with goalkeeper Sean Mintoff starting on the bench after sustaining an injury during the last game. Floriana, on the other hand, lacked Joseph Borg.
The two teams shared the exchanges throughout the first half. Rabat had the first attempt at goal with David Azzopardi testing Jonathan Debono on the 1st minute and Jonathan Azzopardi anticipating Akanni-Sunday Wasiu on two occasions.
Floriana improved after the break and went close with attempts by Akanni Wasiu and Trevor Cilia.
The Greens managed to break the deadlock on 58 minutes when off a Aman Verma freekick from the right, Aaron Brown headed the ball past goalkeeper Jonathan Azzopardi.
In another attack for Floriana, on 62 minutes, a Trevor Cilia conclusion was blocked and off the rebound, Owen Bugeja’s goal-bound shot was cleared off the goal line by Ivan Carapic.
Rabat missed a good opportunity when Manuel Moral Fuster stole the ball off a defender and served Adam Smeir who however failed to connect on 67 minutes. A minute later, substitute Ryan Darmanin hit just wide in a swift counter-attack for Floriana. A fierce shot by Trevor Cilia on the 70th minute scraped past the post.
The Greens doubled the score on 71 minutes as Trevor Cilia received a pass by Duncan Pisani from the right and hit low past Azzopardi.
A minute later, Floriana scored the third goal thanks to Ryan Darmanin who received a pass by Trevor Cilia and slotted the ball past the Rabat goalkeeper.
An Adam Smeir effort, served by David Azzopardi from the right, was blocked by a defender on 82 minutes.
A minute later, the two teams ended playing in ten men after referee Kevin Azzopardi sent off Floriana’s Aaron Brown and Rabat’s Patrick Borg following an incident between the two.
Finally Adam Smeir concluded a good run with a powerful shot which was turned into a corner by Jonathan Debono on the 90th minute.

Why hasnt floriana told the press that fifa has ruled the first case in favour of their former keeeper that floriana made a mistske by not sending the Itc of their former keeper from Ghana William. And that the player is awaiting another decisio. where he has sued them for 30.000 eitoes gor wrong decision by the club on the player when they claimed he refused to plsy instead of that he was sick. was it too difficult for johan to hsve said the truth that the player was sick . Indtead of geting a docyors report that was far from what the doctor said ? Now the player has won the first round at fifa when fifa themselves took the keepers i.t.c for him after they judged in his favour. now the player is waiting for the final notice from fufa to floriana to pay him damages. All this could have been prevented if floriana and Johan saidd had said the truth to the press from the begining.
Hekk ghandha tkun id-difiza, avolja jien wiehed li nippreferi nara tfal tas-Sliema stess jilghabu uhud ma jkollomx dik il-grinta u l-qallb ma tkunx hemm, jew inkella mhux kapaci. Nispera li l-kowc tghallem minn din l-esperjenza u jzomm d-difiza kif kienet illum.
Konna hazin illum Yellows…ejja halli nirrimedjaw mil loghba li jmiss!! Ghadna bidu ma gara xejn!!
BKR ma kienux tajbin u s-SLM laghbu loghba perfetta sa mil-ewwel sekonda. Kienu aggressivi u dehru x kienu l-intenzjonijiet taghhom waqt li bkr hasbu li kienet gejja facli u gara li nqabdu fuq sieq wahda. Pero llum ikkonkludejt li meta ngergru kontra refs Maltin nkunu qed naghglu wisq.Dawn il-Lussenburgizi ma kellhomx idea… tal-misthijja il-veru haqqu prosit min gaghbhom. Bir rispett kollu jekk l-mfa trid taghmel l-esperimenti taghmilhom f’loghbiet bla storja u mhux fxi wahda tahraq bhal tal-lum.
U haga ohra ggib mil LUX livell aghr minn taghna! Xejn sew…
Illum Sliema W. SETAW FACILMENT hargu rebbieha bi score ferm akbar. Kien hemm mill anqas HAMES okkazzjonijiet ohra li setaw issarrfu f-goals !

HA HA HA wiliam ammamoo you were afraid to play big games !!!!
oh. so its true that floriana has lost that case at fifa? I knew it from the begining that there was something fishy behined this. Well done William Amamoo for your bravery. This is a big lesson to all malta clubs to tell the truth to avoid disgrace
Nixtiq naghti prosit lit team tas SLIEMA ghall loghba kbira li ghamlu difensivament, pero ma nistax nonqos milli nsemmi li laghba fil ground tal Hamrun, ground zghir u difficli hafna li ssib lispazji specjament meta tkun min taht. Statistici juri bic car li kwazi kull min ikun min fuq, jibqgha min fuq f dan il ground. Mistoqsija zghira… ghaliex il Belt dejjem jilghabu ta qali, u ahna bix nilghabu hemm weghda? tisma supporters tal Belt stess igergru meta xi darba f stagun ikunu ha jilghaba l ground tal Hamrun! ma gara xejn Yellows xorta nemmen li ghanda team kapaci u bsahhtu bizzejjed bix nirbhu l unuri dan listagun… mohhna emm ghal loghba li jmiss kontra Tarxien ha nergghu nghollu dak il moral tal- partiti precedenti. Lahhar punt, nixtiq nghid prosit kbira lil Shola, ghax wera kemm laghab min qalbu u ghall flokk… grazzi mil gdid.
@darren mhux skuza ghax tilghab hamrun ghax hemm illna ma nitilfu u l-ahjar kwazi dejjem hemm laghbnihom dis-sena adna se nilabu 4 loghbiet hamrun dik skuza ghax ground tal-hamrun kwazi fih daqs ta qali jidher kbir ghax hemm qejed miftuh
I eventhough I am a floriana fan , I think we were wrong with William. Now.our money at Uefa for the Europa liga is seized due to smal small mistakes by our club. Like someone said this decision by fifa is a big lesson to all maltese clubs.
prosit blues !! ejja ha inkomplu nilghabu bi grinta kif laghbna illum !!

Hija hasra li l-attendenzi f’kull kampjonat qeghdin jonqsu u l-MFA flimkien mad-delegatti li jaghmlu parti minnha ma qeghdin jaghmlu xejn!
Shut up shola !
kif bilfors ikun hawn min irried isemmi lil klabb ta belt. haluna ahna x,ghadna x,naqsmu. wara kollox fitex naqra fixtures qabel itajar il-bzi,, hawn u tkun taf jekk il-belt ux ser jilghabu il-hamrun u kordin. ghax ghadna mizerjament 6 games f,dawn grounds ahna! imma aqwa LI INBEZILQU
Filwaqt li m ghandiex ingibu skuza bil ground meta nitilfu, ma nahsibx li hemm trattament ugwali lejn it timijiet.
Birkirkara fl ewwel fazi ghandhom 10 loghbiet biss minn 22 gol ground nazzjonali filwaqt li l belt ghandhom 16. ma nafx fuq liema kriterji jigu decizi l venues tal fixtures (jekk wahda minnom hija l attendenza, hadd m’hu jtella daqshekk nies li ma joqodux fil grounds ta kordin jew il hamrun), imma jekk ha nifirxu l loghbiet tal premier fuq 3 grounds, jew ha nqassmuhom b mod bejn wiehed u iehor ugwali u li jaghmel sens, jew nilaghbu dejjem ta qali!!
Prosit Sliema, kontu ahjar kien haqqkom tirbhulna. Is-Sliema dehru li kellhom aktar grinta, wara zewg telfiet kienu determinatissimi li ma setghux ifallu…..
Birkirkara ma kienu daqshekk motivati u hassejt li ma konniex tajjeb fil-grawnd. Fid-difiza konna hazin hafna, kull darba li sliema attakkaw kienu perikoluzi. Ovvjament iz-2 gowls wara 13-il minuta ikkundizzjunaw il-loghba, specjalment meta tilghab fil-VT Stadium, grawnd zghir….immz xorta mhux skuza ghax jekk ridna kien hemm hafna hin biex tirkupra.
Loghba hazin tigih kulhadd, u jekk kine hemm min kibritlu rasu ghax konna irbahna l-ewwel 4 loghbiet…..saqajna ma’ l-art u jalla nitghallmu minnha.
BDW: MFA pls note referees ahjar ta’ Malta bit-tajjeb u l-hazin kollu….
Mr.William Amamoo… you spend more time debating on internet and websites rather than playing football in your whole career. and as for you shola you gave your word to qormi and floriana (where you trained with both clubs in preseason of last year) before you signed a contract with birkirkara… another man of honour! the truth is that money talks in football in modern times…
