Balzan hope to extend positive run

Balzan will be aiming at extending their positive run as they take on Mosta in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

After losing four of the first five matches, Balzan defeated Qormi, Melita and Sliema Wanderers to move seventh.

Mosta, on the other hand, are currently fifth on fifteen points and a win over Balzan would enable them to leapfrog Sliema and Hibernians and move third. They won five of the last six matches and are coming from a 2-0 win over Rabat Ajax.

Balzan manager Ivan Zammit could not field his best formation due to the absence of the injured Matthew Camilleri and the suspended Matthew Mendy, Jamie Pace and Dylan Grima.

Meanwhile in the second match, rivals Hamrun Spartans and Qormi will be all out for the three points as they cross swords in the derby.

After a series of disappointing results, Hamrun registered three positive results, beating Melita, a draw with Rabat and a fine 3-1 win over Birkirkara.

Qormi, on the other hand, are currently third from bottom after losing five of the last seven matches. They lost 2-3 to Melita last week.

Jonathan Bondin is in doubt for Qormi. Massimo Grima is suspended while Daniel Zerafa is in doubt.
