Lija Athletic bounced back from the defeat to Vittoriosa Stars last week as they beat Dingli Swallows 2-0 in a match from the BOV First Division at the Centenary Stadium on Friday. They move second on 13 points, two behind leaders St. Andrews and two ahead of Pietà Hotspurs and Naxxar Lions.

An own goal paved the way for Lija on 73 minutes and three minutes from time, Ige Abdullahi Adeshina doubled the score.

In the second match, Vittoriosa Stars came back from one goal down to beat Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 3-1.

Vinicius Pereira dos Santos converted a penalty after just eight minutes to put Birzebbuga ahead. Five minutes in the second half, Marcelo Pereira equalised and Siraj Eddin Arab made it 2-1 on 67 minutes and five minutes from time, Gary Muir converted a penalty to al the issue for Oliver Spiteri’s side.
