Naxxar Lions are back on top the BOV First Division table as they defeated Marsaxlokk 3-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.

Anderson Mendes Ribeiro put Naxxar ahead on 35 minutes. Gilbert Camilleri doubled the score eight minutes in the second half and Ribeiro scored another on 73 minutes to put the Lions three goals ahead. Andre Grabowski converted a penalty three minutes from time to score a consolation goal for Marsaxlokk.

In another match, Gzira United defeated Mqabba 1-0.

Naxxar lead the way with 34 points, followed by Vittoriosa on 33, Pietà 30, Lija 29, Marsaxlokk and Gudja 26, St. Andrews 24, Zejtun and Gzira 18, Dingli 12, Birzebbuga 9 and Mqabba 5.
