After suffering two consecutive defeats, Lija Athletic returned to winning ways as they beat Gudja United 2-0 in one of the two matches from the BOV First Division at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Friday.

Beppe Antignolo put Lija ahead on 31 minutes and Andre Grabowski doubled the score on the 81st.

In another match, St. George’s registered their second win, defeating Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 2-0.

Mendy Abdul Razak put the Cospicua side ahead on 53 minutes and seven minutes later Jonathan Bernardo Mariano doubled the score.

St. Andrews lead the way with 10 points, followed by Lija and Melita on 9, Pieta 8, St. George’s and Zebbug 7, Birzebbuga 6, Gzira, Zejtun and Zurrieq 4, Gudja 3, Msida 1 and Hamrun -7.
