Lija Athletic returned to winnning ways in the BOV First Division as they came from behind to beat Gzira United in one of the two matches in programme at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Friday.

Simon Shead put the Maroons ahead on 25 minutes but Kiril Aleksandrov levelled matters just before half-time and Ige Adeshina notched the winner three minutes in the second half.

In another match, Hamrun Spartans collected another point in a 1-1 draw with Birzebbuga St. Peter’s.

Kevin Borg put Birzebbuga ahead towards the end of the first half and Antonio Pignataro equalised just before half-time.

Pietà lead the way with 14 points, followed by Melita on 13, Lija 12, St. Andrews 11, Birzebbuga 10, Gzira, St. George’s and Zebbug 8, Zurrieq 7, Gudja and Zejtun 4, Msida 1 and Hamrun -3.
