Hibernians and Birkirkara registered comfortable wins on Tuesday to maintain the battle for the championship in the BOV Women’s First Division.

The Paolites beat Raiders (Luxol) 6-1 while Birkirkara beat Kirkop United 5-1. In another match, Gozo defeated Pembroke Athleta 3-0.

Hibs lead the way with 39 points, followed by Birkirkara on 36, Gozo 27, Mgarr 24, Kirkop 10, Pembroke 4 and Raiders (Luxol) 3.

In the BOV Women’s Second Division, Fgura United joined Tarxien Rainbows at the top after beating them 2-1. The two teams lead the way with 28 points, followed by Hamrun Spartans on 23. The Spartans, however have two games in hand.

In another match, Lija / Iklin claimed the three points as they were awarded a walk-over by Vittoriosa Stars.
