Steve D'Amato appointed Hamrun Spartans coach

Hamrun-SpartansSteve D’Amato will start his second spell as coach of Hamrun Spartans after signing a three-year deal with the club who has just been relegated to the Second Division.

D’Amato started his coaching career at Melita with whom he managed to secure a promotion and won the Second & Third Division Knock-Out. He joined Hamrun in October 2008. With the Spartans, he reached the semi-finals of the U*BET FA Trophy in season 2009/10 and secured a place in the Championship Pool the following season.

In summer 2011, he joined Qormi FC as technical advisor but a few months later, he was appointed coach of Mosta FC where he spent just over a year, being sacked at the end of the Premier League first phase after the club had already secured a place in the Championship Pool. Last season, he led Rabat Ajax who were however relegated to Division 1.
