Birkirkara target win to stay on track

Birkirkara will be aiming for a win on Thursday as they take on Tarxien Rainbows in one of the four matches in programme at the National Stadium.

Valletta start as favourites to claim a third consecutive win in the game against Pietà Hotspurs, Mosta hope to return to winning ways as they face Qormi while Sliema Wanderers seek a win in the clash with Zebbug Rangers.

After beating Qormi and Mosta in their last two outings, Birkirkara will be aiming for a third consecutive win in order to join Hibernians at the top. They won five out of the six matches played so far. Tarxien, on the other hand, are eager to bounce back after suffering their first defeat, losing to Balzan 3-2. They claimed four points from four draws, beating Naxxar in the other match.

Carlos Menendez Hevia is ruled out through suspension for the Rainbows. Gareth Sciberras is still recovering from an injury for Birkirkara.

Valletta vs Pietà Hotspurs, kick-off 20:00 at National Stadium
Champions Valletta start as firm favourites to claim the fourth win in five matches as they take on a Pietà Hotspurs side still chasing their first win. They suffered three defeats in the last three matches, losing to Sliema 2-0 during the weekend. Valletta, on the other hand, scored no less than nine goals in the last two matches, beating Sliema 5-0 and Qormi 4-0.

Sliema Wanderers vs Zebbug Rangers, kick-off 18:00 at Victor Tedesco Stadium
Sliema Wanderers hope for a second consecutive win in their bid to recover from a most disappointing start which saw them earn just three points from the first five matches. Zebbug earned two points in draws with a Floriana and Tarxien but lost 0-4 to Hibernians during the weekend.

Alex Muscat is ruled out injured for Sliema.

Qormi vs Mosta, kick-off 20:15 at Victor Tedesco Stadium
Mosta hope to bounce back with a win after suffering their first defeat this season, losing to Birkirkara 2-0. So far, they won four out of the six matches played. Qormi, on the other hand, lost four out of six matches and have now gone five matches without a win. They lost 0-4 to Valletta during the weekend.

The suspended Bojan Kaljevic and the injured Omar Borg are ruled out for Mosta. Qormi could welcome back Maurizio Mazzetti.
