BOV Division 3: Santa Lucia stay top despite second consecutive draw

Despite being held in a second consecutive goalless draw, this time by Marsaskala, Santa Lucia continue to lead the way in the BOV Third Division, one point ahead of Qrendi, Mgarr and Marsaxlokk.

Kalkara and Mtarfa earned a point each in a 2-2 draw at the Luxol Stadium. Clifton Piscopo put Kalkara ahead on the 4th minute. Cleaven Mizzi equalised for Mtarfa eight minutes from the end of the first half and three minutes in the second half, Francesco Azzopardi made it 2-1. However Kalkara restored equilibrium thanks to an own goal by Shaun Peplow.

On the other hand, a goal by David Barry four minutes from time gave Marsaxlokk a narrow win over Attard.

At the Sirens Stadium, a penalty by Andrew Xuereb seven minutes from time enabled Ta’ Xbiex to hold Luqa St. Andrew’s in a 1-1 draw. Greg Marney had put Luqa ahead ten minutes in the second half.

Mgarr United, on the other hand, registered a second consecutive win, beating Mdina Knights 4-1. An own goal after just eight minutes paved the way for Mgarr who doubled the score on the 13th thanks to Mark Abela. Nicholas Abela made it 3-0 on 21 minutes with Yan Grech pulling one back for Mdina on the 31st. Mark Abela scored a fourth goal on 62 minutes.

In another match at the Charles Abela Stadium, Qrendi and St. Venera Lightnings shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

Santa Lucia lead the way with 8 points, followed by Mgarr, Qrendi and Marsaxlokk on 7, Marsaskala 6, Kirkop, Mtarfa and Luqa 5, Kalkara 4, Mdina and Ta’ Xbiex 2, Sta. Venera 1 and Attard 0.
