BOV Division 3: Santa Lucia return to winning ways

Leaders Santa Lucia returned to winning ways in the BOV Third Division as they defeated Ta’ Xbiex in one of six matches in programme on Sunday.

Mgarr United beat Luqa St. Andrew’s 5-0 to stay one point behind the leaders. They took the lead on 19 minutes through Mark Abela. Oscar Martin Aparicio scored twice on 23 and 27 minutes to give Mgarr a three-goal lead before Ryan Vella added another six minutes from the end of the first half. Mark Abela scored a fifth goal on 69 minutes.

Kirkop United scored three in the second half to beat Sta. Venera Lightnings 3-0. Vladimir Klikic converted a penalty on the hour before doubling the score five minutes later. Matthew Caruana sealed the issue with a third goal five minutes from time.

Denis Sytnic was the hero for Marsaskala as they beat Marsaxlokk 2-1. He put them ahead on 59 minutes, Dylan Attard equalised on the 66th but Syntic scored again ten minutes from time.

Attard registered a second consecutive win as they beat Qrendi 3-0 thanks to goals by Lydon Cilia on the 9th, Matthew Borg on the 75th and another by Lydon Cilia on the 91st.

Mtarfa and Mdina Knights shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Cachel Vella put Mdina ahead on 15 minutes but Clive Shumba equalised five minutes in the second half.

Santa Lucia lead the way with 11 points, followed by Mgarr on 10, Marsaskala 9, Kirkop 8, Qrendi and Marsaxlokk 7, Attard and Mtarfa 6, Luqa 5, Kalkara 4, Mdina 3, Ta’ Xbiex 2 and Sta. Venera 1.
