BOV Division 2: Hamrun regain sole leadership

Hamrun Spartans regained sole leadership in the BOV Second Division as they beat Sirens 4-1.

Saturday Nanapere put Hamrun ahead on the 7th and Alan Tabone converted a penalty on the 63rd. Four minutes later, Lee Joe Schembri reduced the score as he converted another penalty. Hamrun had goalkeeper Jean Claude Debattista sent off but still managed to seal the issue with two goals by RYan Spiteri and Nanapere on the 82nd and 83rd.

Zabbar St. Patrick closed in on the top two as they beat Mellieha 3-0 to register a fourth successive win. Jean Claude Cesare put the Saints ahead on the 4th minute and then doubled the score on 81 minutes before Dylan Micallef added a third goal on 93 minutes.

A brace by Ryan Sell enabled Zejtun Corinthians to join Senglea Athletic in fourth place as they defeated them 2-0. Sell scored the first goal six minutes in the second half and doubled the score three minutes in added time.

Swieqi United registered a third consecutive win as they beat Gharghur 2-1. Leontiev Konda converted a penalty on the 6th but just before half-time, Muda Fagbeja levelled matters. The game seemed heading for a draw but one minute in added time, Jonathan Briscoe White notched the winner.

Marsa brought their losing streak to an end as a goal by Ronnie Celeste on the 91st minute enabled them to beat Dingli Swallows 1-0.

Siggiewi beat Ghaxaq 3-0 thanks to goals by Stephane Tape on 38 minutes, Jason Camilleri on 69 minutes and Tape once again on 74 minutes.

Hamrun lead the way with 28 points, followed by San Gwann on 26, Zabbar 24, Senglea and Zejtun 19, Swieqi 18, Gharghur 17, Sirens 15, Siggiewi 14, Mellieha 12, Marsa 11, Dingli 7, Ghaxaq and Xghajra 4.
