BOV Division 3: Mgarr move four points clear

Mgarr United moved four points clear in the BOV Third Division following a 3-1 win over Marsaskala as Qrendi and Kirkop United shared the spoils in a draw in a direct clash between the teams in second and third place.

Matthew Muscat scored twice for Mgarr on the 19th and 29th to put them 2-0 ahead before Miguel Farrugia Spiteri pulled one back for Marsaskala on the 32nd minute. However Mark Abela scored a third goal for Mgarr five minutes in the second half.

Kirkop United and Qrendi drew 1-1 as Michael Zammit put Kirkop ahead on the 10th minute and Clayton Caruana converted a penalty to equalise for Qrendi three minutes from the end of the first half.

Attard defeated Kalkara by the odd goal in five. Goals by Lydon Cilia and a brace by Matthew Borg on the 11th, 65th and 81st put Attard three goals ahead with Kalkara reducing the gap througha Jacob Camilleri penalty on the 86th and a Darren Cristina goal on the 92nd.

In another match, Marsaxlokk returned to winning ways as they beat Ta’ Xbiex 2-0.

Mgarr lead the way with 39 points, followed by Qrendi on 35, Kirkop 34, Santa Lucia 33, Attard 32, Mtarfa 30, Marsaskala 27, Kalkara 24, Sta. Venera 22, Mdina 17, Luqa 14, Marsaxlokk 13 and Ta’ Xbiex 6.
