MFRA condemns assault on referee during Youth League match

The Malta Football Referees’ Association issued a statement in which it condemned without reservation the incidents which took place during the Youth League Section E match between Swieqi United and St. George’s on Tuesday at the Sirens Stadium, where one of its members was assaulted during the course of the game. Swieqi were leading 4-0 when the game was abandoned on the 75th minute.

The statement, signed by MFRA General Secretary Alexander Spiteri, says “The MFRA will not tolerate such behaviour anymore and such incidents must not happen in our stadia.”

“In the same way we would like to offer all the support and solidarity to the refereeing team that were unfortunately involved during this game.”

“We are sure that the MFA will take all necessary steps so that justice is done with all involved,” concludes the statement.
