BOV Division 2: San Gwann promoted as Zejtun are held in a draw

San Gwann are the first team to be promoted from the BOV Second Division to Division 1 as fourth-placed Zejtun Corinthians were held in a 1-1 draw by Gharghur on Sunday.

Muda Fagbeja put Gharghur ahead on the 4th minute with veteran Charlo Magro equalising on the 25th.

Siggiewi pushed Dingli Swallows into further relegation trouble after beating them 4-3.

Francois Guihard opened the score for Siggiewi on the 5th but three minues later, Alex Pedrozo levelled matters. Siggiewi regained the lead through Kim Buhagiar on the 18th with Jonathan Pace equalising on the 24th. Dingli went 3-2 ahead thanks to Alex Pedrozo on the 27th but Jason Camilleri converted a penalty on the 32nd to restore equilibrium. Sam Vella notched the winner on 68 minutes.

Zabbar St. Patrick defeated Xghajra Tornados 3-2 in an entertaining derby. Jean Claude Cesare put Zabbar ahead on the 32nd and Shalon Diacono doubled the score three minutes from the end of the first half. However Matthew Mifsud pulled one back on 58 minutes and the same player equalised on the 77th. However St. Patrick regained the lead seven minutes from time thanks to another goal by Jean Claude Cesare.

In another match, Mellieha beat Siggiewi 2-0 thanks to goals by Julian Spiteri on the 68th and a penalty by Stephane Sylla two minutes from time.

San Gwann lead the way with 52 points, followed by Hamrun on 47, Senglea 45, Zejtun 39, Zabbar 37, Mellieha 34, Gharghur and Siggiewi 32, Sirens 29, Swieqi and Marsa 27, Dingli 16, Ghaxaq 9 and Xghajra 5.
