Hibs, Raiders (Luxol) reach Women’s Knock-Out final

Raiders (Luxol) and Hibernians will be contesting the Women’s Knock-Out final on Tuesday 19th May after defeating Sliema Wanderers and Birkirkara respectively in the two semi-finals which were played on Monday.

In the first semi-final, Raiders (Luxol) found no difficulty in beating Sliema Wanderers 7-0. Ann Marie Said scored twice and Corissa Vella White, Tracy Teuma and Rebecca Vella scored one each to give them a five-goal lead by the end of the first half with Tracy Teuma adding another two goals after the break for a 7-0 win.

The second semi-final was a most entertaining clash between champions Hibernians and holders Birkirkara. Ylenia Carabott put the Paolites ahead late in the first half but early in the second half, Stephania Farrugia converted a penalty for Birkirkara. A few minutes later, Gabriella Zahra made it 2-1 for the Stripes but late in the game, Shona Zammit notched the equaliser to force extra-time.

No goals were scored in extra-time and therefore penalties had to decide the issue. Dorianne Theuma, Ylenia Carabott and Martina Borg scored for Hibernians with Gabriella Zahra and Tara Attard scoring the two penalties for Birkirkara.
