Sepp Blatter to serve for a fifth term as FIFA President

Sepp Blatter will be serving for a fifth term as FIFA President after the 79-year-old received 133 votes to challenger Prince Ali bin al Hussein of Jordan’s 73 votes in the first round.

Mr Blatter, who has been under mounting pressure to step down, fell just short of the two-thirds of votes he needed to win outright. However just before a second round of votes was due to start, Prince Ali withdrew his candidature.

Malta was one of five countries who had nominated Prince Ali back in January along with Jordan, England, Georgia, Belarus and the United States.
