Clayton Pisani to control Gibraltar-Germany EURO qualifier

The Malta FA Refereeing Department announces that FIFA Referee Clayton Pisani has been appointed by UEFA as referee of the EURO 2016 Group D match, Gibraltar vs Germany, being played in Estádio Algarve, Faro-loulé, Portugal on Saturday 13th June.

The other FIFA match officials in Clayton’s team shall be assistant referees Mitchell Scerri and Duncan Sultana, additional assistant referees Marco Borg and Adrian Azzopardi and 4th Official Roberto Vella.

Besides being the first occasion that an international fixture will be controlled by six Maltese match officials, Clayton Pisani will be the first Maltese referee in history to officiate a competitive game involving a team who is currently World Champions.

UEFA has appointed Fritz Stuchlik (Austria) to assess the performance of Clayton Pisani and his team, while Roland Coquard (France) has been appointed as the Match Delegate.

It has also been announced that Maltese referees will officiate in the SSE Airtricity League of the Football Association of Ireland on Friday 12 June as part of an exchange programme.

FIFA Referee Alan Mario Sant will be in charge of the Premier Division match, St Patrick’s Athletic vs Limerick at Richmond Park, assisted by Edward Spiteri and Peter Abela as assistant referees and Ben Connolly (Republic of Ireland) as Fourth Official.

Elite Referee Andre Arciola has been appointed as the referee of the Division 1 match, Shelbourne vs Cobh Ramblers at Tolka Park, assisted by William Debattista and Thomas Debono as assistant referees and Tomas Connolly (Republic of Ireland) as Fourth Official.

The match officials will be accompanied by Malta FA Referees’ Committee member Stephen Mallia, who on the same date will be the referee observer of the Premier Division derby match, Bohemians vs Shamrock Rovers at Dalymount Park.
