Floriana FC unveil Luis Oliveira as their new coach

Floriana FC unveiled Luís Airton Barroso Oliveira as their new coach. He replaces Giovanni Tedesco who joined Birkirkaraa couple of weeks ago.

Luis Oliveria was born in Brazil but moved to Belgium in 1985 where he signed for Anderlecht. He made his senior team debut in 1988 and stayed with the club until 1992 where he joined Cagliari in Italy. With the club from Sardinia, “Lulù” Oliveira established himself as a key player, scoring 42 goals in 121 matches. In 1996, he moved to Fiorentina where he spent before returning to Cagliari for another season in 1999/2000.

The following season, Luis Oliveira moved to Bologna as Cagliari were relegated. However he stayed for just one year before joining Como in the Serie B, leading them to promotion to the Serie A while winning the top scorer award. He then spent two years with Catania in the Serie B and then joined Foggia in the Serie C1. However in the January 2005 transfer market, he moved to Venezia in the Serie B. He went on to play for Lucchese, Nuorese and Derthona in the lower divisions. Luis Oliveira ended his playing career with Muravera where he also had his first coaching experience as player-coach.

In August 2014, Oliveira was appointed coach of Lega Pro club Pro Patria but he was dismissed in November after eleven matches where the team won one game and drew five.
