Valletta won the St. Andrews Summer Friendship Cup which was held at the Luxol Stadium after defeating Sliema Wanderers 2-0 in the final which was held on Friday.

After a goalless first half, the Citizens managed to break the deadlock thanks to Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza on the 59th minute and Luke Montebello sealed the issue with a second goal eight minutes from time.

After the game, Parliamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sport Chris Agius presented the cup to Valletta captain Jonathan Caruana.

Meanwhile First Division side Senglea Athletic claimed third place after beating Tarxien Rainbows 1-0 in the match for third place. Hubert Vella scored the all-important goal for Senglea.
