Murga strikes late for Mosta as they hold Stripes in 1-1 draw

On-loan striker Edin Murga notched a late equaliser for Mosta as they held his former team Birkirkara in a 1-1 draw at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Tuesday.

The Blues, who were coming from a defeat to Mosta on Saturday, now join Hibernians in second place on ten points. The Paolites, however, have a game in hand and will be facing Valletta on Wednesday. Birkirakra, on the other hand, are now fifth.

Birkirkara had two changes from the team which defeated Pembroke as Rowen Muscat and Frank Temile replaced Marcelina Emerson and Fabrizio Miccoli. Mosta, on the other hand, had Yenz Cini, Ian Zammit and Ryan Grech starting ahead of Omar Borg, Edile Micheletti and Dyson Falzon.

The Stripes took the lead on 25 minutes when Vito Plut, served by Liliu, hit home past goalkeeper Yenz Cini.

Mosta levelled matters three minutes from time thanks to Edin Murga who concluded a solo effort on the left flank with a well-placed shot which gave goalkeeper Justin Haber no chance.

Two minutes in added time, Mauricio mazzetti was sent off for Birkirkara for slapping an opponent.
