BOV Division 2: Fine wins for Swieqi and Siggiewi

Swieqi United and Siggiewi registered identical 4-0 wins in two of the six BOV Second Division matches in programme on Sunday.

Siggiewi obtained a second successive win, beating Msida St. Joseph 4-0 at the Luxol Stadium. Abeeb Abiodun Williams put Siggiewi ahead eight minutes from the end of the first half. Mark Camilleri doubled the score four minutes in the second half and the same player added another eight minutes later. Williams scored a fourth goal on the 68th to seal the issue.

On the other hand, Swieqi United registered their first win as they defeated Zurrieq 4-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium. Daniel Calleja Cremona gave Swieqi the lead on the 15th and Kenneth Ekezie scored twice on the 26th and 48th to put them 3-0 ahead. Kane Micallef added another on the 62nd.
Sirens and Kirkop United shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at the Sirens Stadium. Daniel Cremona put Sirens ahead after just six minutes but Michael Theuma equalised for Kirkop eleven minutes later. John Debono made it 2-1 for Sirens on 33 minutes but two minutes in added time, Michael Zammit levelled matters for Kirkop.

In another match at the Sirens Stadium, Gharghur held Qrendi in a 1-1 draw despite having a player sent off.

A goal by Ronnie Celeste twelve minutes from time gave Birzebbuga St. Peter’s a narrow win over Zabbar St. Patrick at the Luxol Stadium.

In another match at the Charles Abela Stadium, Zejtun Corinthians defeated Mellieha 3-1. They managed to go three goals ahead within the first twenty-six minutes thanks to Josuel Spiteri on the 3rd, Jair Nelson Escobar Ortiz on the 21st and Adrian Carabott on the 26th. Wayne Borg St John scored a consolation goal on the 78th when he converted a penalty.

Marsa lead the way with 9 points, followed by Qrendi and Sirens on 7, Siggiewi and Zejtun 6, Gharghur 5, Mellieha, Zabbar and Birzebbuga 4, Swieqi 3, Kirkop, Mgarr 1, Msida 0 and Zurrieq -2.
