BOV Division 3: Mdina maintain perfect start

Leaders Mdina Knights maintained their perfect run in the BOV Third Division as they registered their fourth win on Sunday, beating St. Venera Lightnings 4-0 at the Sirens Stadium.

Daniel Cluett put the Knights ahead on the 12th and Mark Cremona doubled the score on 26 minutes. Mdina added another two goals in the final ten minutes as John Cachia made it 3-0 on the 80th and Alex Demarco sealed the issue with a fourth goal one minute in added time.

Attard and Santa Lucia shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at the Luxol Stadium.

Santa Lucia went two goals ahead within the first nine minutes thanks to goals by Gaynor D’Amato on the 5th and Marlon Farrugia on the 9th. However Jurgen Gerada pulled one back on the 35th and five minutes later, Leonard Alla equalised.

Luqa St. Andrew’s registered their second win as they beat Ghaxaq 2-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium. Greg Marney put Luqa ahead on the 23rd and Wayne Busuttil doubled the score six minutes in the second half.

Dingli Swallows registered their first win as they beat Ta’ Xbiex 2-0 at Sirens Stadium. Joshua Sciarrino gave Dingli the lead and an own goal on the 57th sealed victory.

Marsaskala came from behind to beat Xghajra Tornados 2-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium to stay two points behind the leaders. Robert Peplow put Xghajra ahead on 53 minutes but Justin Zammit equalised on the 55th and Denis Sytnik notched the winner on the 59th.

In another match, Marsaxlokk beat Kalkara 2-1 at the Luxol Stadium. John Paul Barbara and Ryan D’Amato gave Marsaxlokk a two goal lead on the 66th and 71sr with Lizio Grech converting a penalty on the 77th to reduce the gap.

Mdina lead the way with 12 points, followed by Marsaskala on 10, Attard on 8, Luqa 6, Santa Lucia, St. Venera and Dingli 5, Marsaxlokk, Ghaxaq and Ta’ Xbiex 4, Kalkara and Xghajra 1 and Mtarfa 0.
