Valletta seek to extend positive derby run

Valletta hope to extend their positive run in the derby against Floriana as the two teams cross swords in one of the two BOV Premier League matches at the National Stadium on Sunday.

Valletta are currently third on 15 points, two ahead of Floriana. They registered identical 3-1 wins over Naxxar and Tarxien in their last two outings. The Greens, on the other hand, won four out of the last five matches, defeating Sliema 3-0 in their last game.

Romeu Romao returns for Valletta after serving a one-match ban but Juan Cruz Gill is ruled out injured.

Meanwhile in the first match, Birkirkara take on Sliema Wanderers. The Stripes are currently fourth six points behind leaders Balzan and a win over the Wanderers would put them on level points with Hibernians, three points behind the leaders. Birkirkara defeated St. Andrews 4-0 in their last outing.

Sliema, on the other hand, disappointed in a 0-3 defeat to Floriana. They are currently fourth from bottom but a win over the Stripes would put them in joint-fifth place.

Pedrinho is ruled out through suspension.
