Leaders Mdina Knights bounced back from the defeat to Dingli Swallows in their last league outing as they beat Xghajra Tornados 4-2 at the Sirens Stadium in one of six matches from the BOV Third Division on Sunday.

Royter Degiorgio converted a penalty on the 24th to put Xghajra ahead but Andrea Spiteri equalised five minutes later. Velibor Mricic made it 2-1 for Mdina on the 44th and added another on the hour to increase the lead further. Degiorgio scored a second goal for Xghajra on the 76th but Mark Cremona made it 4-2 two minutes from time.

Attard joined Marsaskala in second place as they beat Ta’ Xbiex 3-1 and Marsaskala were held in a 2-2 draw by Santa Lucia.

A Jurgen Gerada penalty after just two minutes put Attard ahead. One minute in the second half, Dylan Agius doubled the score. Joel Felice pulled one back for Ta’ Xbiex eight minutes from time but Giles Ciantar made it 3-1 six minutes later.

Kalkara registered their first win as they beat Luqa St. Andrew’s 2-0 at the Luxol Stadium. Lizio Grech converted a penalty to put Kalkara ahead on 37 minutes and Randall Cassar doubled the score on the 59th.

Marsaxlokk claimed another three points thanks to a 4-2 win over Mtarfa at the Sirens Stadium. A defeat which leaves Mtarfa anchored at the bottom of the table without any points after five matches. Shawn Peplow put Mtarfa ahead on the 13th but Abner dos Santos leveled matters six minutes later and Marlon Grech made it 2-1 on the 34th. Paul Azzopardi restored equilibrium two minutes in the second half but goals by Alain Pierre Courtadon on the 76th and Manuel Caruana ten minutes later gave Jeffrey Mifsud’s side the three points.

Ghaxaq beat St. Venera Lightnings 2-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium thanks to goals by Mark Ellul on the 46th and a Florin Anton penalty on the 69th.

Mdina lead the way with 15 points, followed by Marsaskala and Attard on 12, Marsaxlokk and Ghaxaq 10, Santa Lucia 9, Dingli 8, Luqa 6, St. Venera 5, Ta’ Xbiex, Xghajra and Kalkara 4 and Mtarfa 0.
