Futsal: Valletta set up Super Cup final spot

Valletta booked their place for next Friday’s Super Cup final against Luxol after dispatching Hamrun Spartans 11-4 in an entertaining encounter played at the Corradino Sports Pavillion.

The Citizens started off brightly, signaling their intentions to attack Hamrun, who found a lot of difficult to deal with their opponents pressing play. Hamrun found themselves with an even bigger mountain to climb when the Citizens scored in the crucial moments of the match to get a well deserved 4-1 advantage before the break. With Valletta goalkeeper Neil Cuschieri distinguishing himself with a string of fine saves either side of half-time, the Spartans never carved their opponents open to create chances as clear as they would have wished.

Former Spartans player Mohammed Elamari was the main protagonist as he scored a poker, Denis di Maio and Jovica Milijic netted a brace while Melvin Borg, Cristian Cuadros Silva and Liam Cachia scored the other goal for the Lilywhites. Ħamrun managed to reduce the gap through their Brazilian players as Raphinha hit the target twice with Rodrigo and Michel Melo Jose adding more goals for the Spartans.
