Pembroke, Qormi share spoils in draw

Pembroke Athleta and Qormi earned a point each as they shared the spoils in a goalless draw at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Saturday.

Pembroke therefore join Sliema Wanderers on the 14-point mark while Qormi remain second from bottom.

Winston Muscat kept faith in the same eleven players who had started the game against Valletta as Zoran Levnajic and goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia were both unavaialble. Qormi, on the other hand, had two changes as Emerson Vella and new recruit Djamel Leeflang replaced Ryan Micallef and Terence Vella.

Pembroke held the initiative during the first half with the best goal scoring opportunity occurring after just five minutes as Ariel Laudisi tested Jean Matthias Vella with a low shot from the left but Vella neutralised his attempt, aided by the foot of the post.

After the break, the two teams shared the exchanged but the best opportunity fell at the feet of Gibson Bardsley on the 70th but when alone in front of the goalkeeper, hit just wide.
