BOV Division 2: Three teams on top as Gharghur are held by Mgarr

Gharghur have to share the top spot in the BOV Second Division with Marsa and Sirens after being held in a 2-2 draw by Mgarr United.

Muda Fagbeja put Gharghur ahead on the 2nd minute but Lazar Doric levelled matters on the 16th and made it 2-1 eight minutes from time. However Martin Deyanov rescued a point for Gharghur with a goal on the 88th.

Luke Galea was the hero for Sirens as they defeated Mellieha 1-0 in the derby at the Charles Abela Stadium with a goal on the 4th minute.

Qrendi and Swieqi United earned a point each in a 1-1 draw at the Charles Abela Stadium. Leone Camilleri put Qrendi ahead four minutes from the end of the first half but Kane Micallef equalised on the 68th.

Birzebbuga St. Peter’s returned to winning ways as they defeated Msida St. Joseph 4-0 at the Luxol Stadium. Birzebbuga took the lead one minute from the end of the first half thanks to Matthew Borda. Ronnie Celeste doubled the score on the 48th and the same player added another on the 63rd before Ryo Kodama sealed the issue with a fourth goal on the 77th.

Zejtun Corinthians bounced back from the defeats to Gharghur and Sirens with a 2-0 win over Zurrieq at the Sirens Stadium courtesy of goals by Jamie Mifsud on the 12th and Ryan Cauchi on the 39th.

Zabbar St. Patrick defeated Kirkop United 1-0 at the Sirens Stadium thanks to a goal by Dylan Micallef nine minutes in the second half.

Gharghur, Marsa and Sirens lead the way with 21 points, followed by Zabbar and Zejtun on 16, Birzebbuga and Siggiewi 15, Mgarr 14, Kirkop and Mellieha 12, Qrendi 10, Swieqi 8, Msida 4 and Zurrieq 3.
