Easy wins for Floriana, Tarxien

Floriana left it for the second half to score four as they defeated bottom-placed St. Andrews 5-0.

For the Saints, this was the sixteenth defeat in as many matches, leaving them anchored at the bottom of the table without any points.

Matthew Calleja Cremona was back in goal for Floriana while for St. Andrews, Kris Calleja was ruled out injured and Michael Johnson suspended.

Floriana took the lead when off a cross by Nicolas Chiesa from the right, Mauricio Villa slotted the ball past goalkeeper Dorian Bugeja.

Eight minutes in the second half, the Greens doubled the score when off a cross from the left.

Three minutes later, Villa served Matteo Picciollo whose rising shot from a close angle gave goalkeeper Bugeja.

Floriana scored the fourth goal on the 58th thanks to Mauricio Villa who slammed the ball home from close range following an assist by Fontanella from the left.

Seven minutes from time, Mario Fontanella was brought down inside the area by the goalkeeper and the same player converted from the penalty spot.

Tarxien Rainbows bounced back from the derby defeat to Hibernians as they scored four in the final twenty-five minutes to beat ten-man Naxxar Lions 4-0 at the Hibernians Stadium.

The turning point was the dismissal of Spanish midfielder Jose Angel Godar Pereira on the 65th minute when he received a second yellow card. From the resulting freekick by Ayrton Azzopardi, Bruno Giglio de Oliveira headed home past Pecorella.

The Rainbows doubled the score on the 71st with a shot from just outside the area by Ayrton Azzopardi which beat the Naxxar goalkeeper.

Six minutes later, Alex da Paixao Alves received a low cross shot by Luke Montebello and hit past Pecorella.

Eight minutes from time, Luke Montebello scored the fourth goal with a powerful shot which gave the Naxxar custodian no chance.

After the final whistle, Blazo Rajovic was also sent off for Naxxar after receiving a second yellow card for passing remarks to the referee.
