Rowen Muscat set to join Ascoli

Malta international midfielder Rowen Muscat is set to join Italian Serie B side Ascoli Picchio on loan until the end of season with the Italian club making his move a permanent one next summer.

A product of Birkirkara, Muscat made his Premier League debut in season 2009/10. In summer 2014, he was transferred to Hungarian top division side Dunaujvaros PASE but his stay was cut short as he was released due to the club’s financial problems.

Led by former Italy Under-21 national coach Devis Mangia, Ascoli are currently seventeenth out of 22 teams in the Serie B. They won promotion from the Lega Pro Girone B as runners-up at the end of last season.
