Hibernians defeat PSV in friendly match

Hibernians came from behind to defeat Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven 2-1 in a friendly match at the Hibernians Stadium on Tuesday. A friendly match which is part of a training camp which the Dutch giants are holding in Malta.

Although PSV came to Malta in full strength, coach Phillip Cocu rested a number of regular players. Hibs coach Branko Nisevic, on the other hand, could not field his best formation due to the absence of the injured Rodolfo Soares and Marcelo Dias but included Dutch goalkeeper Stan Van Hoeven as a substitute during the second half.

PSV took the lead on the 9th minute when Rai Vloet deflected the ball past Rudi Briffa following a back pass from the right by Rui da Gracia Gomes.

One minute in added time, Luciano Narsingh hit the crossbar with a first-time effort following a cross from the left by Maxime Lestienne.

Hibernians equalised on the 63rd when off an assist by Jackson Lima, substitute Jean Paul Farrugia placed the ball inside the empty net from close range.

Clayton Failla came to the rescue for Hibernians on the 77th when he cleared off the goal line a goal-bound effort by Luuk de Jong.

One minute in added time, the Paolites notched the winner thanks to a well-placed shot by Jorge Santos Silva from outside the area after receiving a through pass.
