Birkirkara sign Matthew Guillaumier, Croatian goalkeeper

Birkirkara secured the services of Malta Under-19 international midfielder Matthew Guillaumier and Croatian goalkeeper Miroslav Kopric. Guillaumier signed a four-and-a-half year contract while Kopric signed a deal until the end of season 2016/17.

Guillaumier is a product of St. Andrews and after making his senior team debut at the age of 15 in the First Division, he had a spell with Italian side Empoli in the latter part of 2013 before returning to Malta to play on a more regular basis with St. Andrews before the turning out for the Malta Under-17 national team in the UEFA Under-17 Championship finals in May 2014.

Thirty-one year old Miroslav Kopric started his career with NK Varazdin and then played for NK Krizevci, NK Kamen Ingrad and NK Vinogradar before joining HNK Gorija where he spent six years. This summer, he moved to NK Lucko.

The Stripes had earlier signed Edison David Bilbao Zarate and Croatian defensive midfielder Mislav Andelkovic who also signed an 18-month deal.

Andelkovic started his career at HNK Dubrovnik but then moved to NK Pula Staro Češko. There he spent six years, four of which as team captain. He moved to Hajduk Split in summer 2013 and after eighteen months at the club, Andelkovic signed for FC Luka Koper in Slovenia last January.
