BOV Division 1: Maroons leave it till late to claim victory

BOV-First-DivisionGzira United keep marching on in the BOV First Division as they beat Lija Athletic 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

Moises Avila Perez converted a penalty on the 16th minute to put Gzira ahead and Predrag Babic levelled matters on the 34th. Ian Zammit restored the lead four minutes from time and Louis Rene Zome sealed the issue with a third goal on the 90th.

Pietà Hotspurs joined Senglea Athletic in third place after being held in a 1-1 draw by Vittoriosa Stars.

Randell Harrevelt put the Hotspurs ahead on the 15th minute but three minutes from half-time, Duncan Pisani equalised for Vittoriosa.

Gzira lead the way with 36 points, followed by Hamrun on 33, Senglea and Pietà on 25, Lija 21, Rabat, Vittoriosa and Melita 19, Zebbug and Fgura 18, Mqabba 15, St. George’s and San Gwann 10 and Gudja 8.
