BOV Division 2: Birzebbuga hit twice to sink Sirens

Gharghur continue to enjoy a two-point lead in the BOV Second Division table as Sirens lost 0-2 to Birzebbuga St. Peter’s in one of the six matches in programme on Sunday.

At the Sirens Stadium, Andrea Cutajar put Birzebbuga ahead on the 69th and four minutes in added time, Paul Camilleri doubled the score.

A goal by Shawn Vella on the 67th minute gave Marsa a narrow win over Zurrieq at the Charles Abela Stadium. A win which puts Marsa just one point behind Sirens.

Zabbar St. Patrick came back from one goal down to beat Mgarr United 4-1 at the Sirens Stadium. Lazar Doric gave Mgarr an early lead after just five minutes but Dylan Micallef levelled matters on the 33rd and Justin Felice put the Saints 2-1 three minutes from half-time. Seventeen minutes in the second half, Nikolay Filipov increased the lead further with Dylan Micallef scoring a fourth goal on the 90th.

A penalty by Patrick Briscoe White on the 9th minute gave Swieqi United three precious points as they defeated Zejtun Corinthians 1-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium.

A brace by Luca Casha gave Qrendi a 2-0 win over Msida St. Joseph at the Luxol Stadium. Casha opened the score on the 29th and doubled it on the 69th.

Siggiewi defeated Kirkop United 3-1 at the Luxol Stadium. Kurt Coleiro put Kirkop ahead on the half-hour but Nathan Caruana levelled matters for Siggiewi five minutes in the second half. Jason Camilleri made it 2-1 four minutes later and three minutes from time, Mark Camilleri scored a third goal for Siggiewi.

Gharghur lead the way with 33 points, followed by Sirens on 31, Marsa 30, Zabbar 27, Zejtun 23, Birzebbuga and Siggiewi 22, Qrendi 20, Mellieja and Swieqi 16, Mgarr and Kirkop 15, Zurrieq 6 and Msida 5.
