Blacks move three points clear

Ghajnsielem move three points clear in the Gozo Football League First Division despite having a game in hand after beating Victoria Hotspurs 1-0 courtesy of a Joseph Vella penalty on the 75th.

Champions Xewkija Tigers were held in a 3-3 draw by Kercem Ajax. The Ajax went three goals ahead thanks to a penalty by Claudio Antunes on the 11th, a goal by Elton Vella just before half-time and another by Shaun Attard nine minutes in the second half. However Dene Shields reduced the gap on the 61st, John Camilleri added another two minutes later and Josmar Vella equalised on the 76th. Kercem could have notched a dramatic winner four minutes from time but Claudio Antunes missed a penalty.

Meanwhile in the Gozo Football League Second Division, a goal by Christian Debono three minutes from time gave Nadur Youngsters a narrow win over Gharb Rangers while Xaghra United were held in a 1-1 draw by Munxar Falcons as Oliver Farrugia put the leaders ahead on the 27th but Josef Debrincat rescued a point for Munxar one minute from time.

This third consecutive draw for Xaghra allows Nadur to join them on top the Second Division table.
