Holders Birkirkara face Floriana in FA Trophy quarter-finals

Holders Birkirkara were drawn with Floriana in the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy. The draws were held at the National Stadium on Wednesday.

Balzan were paired with Tarxien Rainbows, Sliema Wanderers with St. Andrews while Pembroke Athleta face the only team from Division 1 – Pietà Hotspurs.

The FA Trophy quarter-finals will be played on April 19 and 20 with the semi-finals scheduled for May 7 and 8 and the final for May 14.

The Stripes had defeated Kirkop United 6-0 in the third round before beating rivals Valletta 1-0 in the fourth round. Floriana, on the other hand, beat St. Laurence Spurs 3-0 and Lija Athletic 2-1.

Pembroke Athleta reached this stage after defeated San Gwann 3-0 and surprising Hibernians with a 2-1 win. Pietà, on the other hand, beat Senglea Athletic 2-1, Zejtun Corinthians 4-1 and St. George’s 3-2.

Balzan eliminated Fgura United and Melita, beating them 2-1 and 2-0 respectively. Tarxien, on the other hand, registered identical 4-1 wins over Zebbug Rangers and Qormi but in the latter case, only after extra-time.

Sliema Wanderers defeated Vittoriosa Stars 1-0 and Gharghur 2-1. St. Andrews, on the other hand, defeated Swieqi United 4-2 and Gzira United on penalties.
