Sirens returned to victory as they came from behind to beat Kirkop United 2-1 in a match from the BOV Second Division at the Luxol Stadium on Friday to move temporarily on top of the table.

Joseph Chetcuti put Kirkop ahead on the 29th but just before the end of the first half, Kristian Galea levelled matters. Giovanni Galea converted a penalty ten minutes in the second half to hand Kevin Vella’s side the three points.

Sirens lead the way with 34 points, followed by Gharghur on 33 points, Marsa 30, Zabbar 27, Zejtun 23, Birzebbuga and Siggiewi 22, Qrendi 20, Mellieja and Swieqi 16, Mgarr and Kirkop 15, Zurrieq 6 and Msida 5.
