Hamrun Spartans kept the pace with leaders Gzira United in the BOV First Division as they defeated Vittoriosa Stars 3-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.

Haruna Garba put the Spartans ahead, Matias Muchardi doubled the score and Jake Grech made it 3-0 with Milan Lukic scoring a consolation goal for the Stars.

In another match, St. George’s earned a point in a goalless draw with Lija Athletic.

Gzira lead the way with 40 points, followed by Hamrun on 39, Pietà 31, Senglea 28, Lija 23, Zebbug and Fgura 22, Vittoriosa and Rabat 20, Mqabba and Melita 19, San Gwann and St. George’s 11 and Gudja 8.
