Narrow win for leaders Ghajnsielem

Leaders Ghajnsielem defeated SK Victoria Wanderers 2-1 at the Sannat Ground on Sunday in one of the matches from the Gozo Football League First Division.

Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza put the Blacks ahead on the 17th and Joseph Vella converted a penalty on the 29th to double the score. Sam Harland pulled one back on the 63rd.

Kercem Ajax also registered a narrow win over Oratory Youths, beating them courtesy of an Andrew Mizzi goal on the 52nd.

Victoria Hotspurs returned to winning ways as they beat St. Laurence Spurs 4-1. Michael Camilleri put the Hotspurs ahead on the 26th. Kevin Farrugia doubled the score on the 56th and eight minutes later, Camilleri added another. Darko Stojanovic pulled one back thanks to a penalty on the 75th but Michael Camilleri sealed the issue with a fourth goal two minutes later.

In the Gozo Football League Second Division, Xaghra United and Nadur Youngsters both registered comfortable wins.

Xaghra beat Qala Saints 7-1. Marlon Mamo and Aleandro Bezzina scored twice within the first two minutes and after Qala had a player sent off, Aleandro Bezzina made it 3-0 three mintues from the end of the first half. Luke Portelli reduced the gap for Qala just before half-time but Malcolm Mamo scored three on the 51st, 56th and 68th before Aleandro Bezzina added another on the 72nd.

On the other hand, Nadur beat Zebbug Rovers 7-0 thanks to a Brandon Said hat-trick on the 21st, 45th and 49th and goals by Shaun Muscat on the 59th, Saviour Attard on the 61st, Samuel Muscat on the 72nd and Elijah Xuereb on the 81st.

In another match, Sannat Lions defeated Munxar Falcons 2-1. Aaron Touma opened the score on the 10th and Antoine Camilleri made it 2-0 seven minutes from time before Kersten Grima reduced the gap four minutes later.
