Leaders Valletta moved six points clear in the BOV Premier League as they extended their positive run to seventeen matches with a tenth consecutive win, beating Mosta 2-1.

Mosta stay seventh on nineteen points, well ahead of the bottom three teams – St. Andrews, Naxxar and Qormi.

Uchenna Umeh returned for Valletta after serving a one-match ban but Roderick Briffa was absent for the same reason.

The Citizens took just nineteen seconds to forge ahead when Jhonnattann received a throughpass on the left, advanced into the area and beat goalkeeper Yenz Cini with a rising shot.

Valletta doubled the score three minutes from the end of the first half when Yenz Cini turned into a corner a great shot by Abdelkarim Nafti but from the resulting corner by Jhonnattann, Jean Borg slammed the ball home with a powerful shot from outside the area.

Mosta pulled one back on the 56th when Godwin Mensha concluded a good run on the right with a shot which beat goalkeeper Henry Bonello.
